I am passionate about public education. Coming from a poor family, being the first generation to graduate from high school and attend college, I am grateful for the opportunities afforded to me as I was growing up in Cutler-Orosi. I know that my own life would be much different if I had not had the privilege of attending high school and college.
Most of our students come from the same background I did. I know that the school district can only do so much. That’s why I’m so excited that we have the Cutler-Orosi Community For Youth organization to fill in the gaps: providing scholarships to students, supporting innovative classroom and community projects, providing needed additional funds for study trips or academic competitions and sponsoring events such as the Mother/Daughter Conference.
I believe all students must leave the K-12 educational system prepared with the knowledge and skills for college, career and to be able to compete in a global economy.
Parents and the wider community are essential to public education success; together we will elevate our great society by preparing the youth of tomorrow.
Thank you for getting involved in Community For Youth – giving back and paying forward!
We are educating minds and inspiring futures!
